Nissan is getting ready to step back into the family-car segment with an all-new three-row MPV, set to make its official debut on 18 December 2025. For a brand that currently has only two mass-market models in India, this launch marks an important expansion and could reshape Nissan’s position in the budget-friendly people-mover space.
A Fresh Design Approach
Nissan has offered a small glimpse of the upcoming MPV through a teaser, and it hints at a body style built for practical family use. The overall stance feels familiar to buyers of compact MPVs in India, but the brand has clearly worked on giving it a more distinct identity.
The front gets a completely new look with a large grille featuring hexagonal elements, reshaped headlamps, and a bumper that carries C-shaped accents for a more modern appearance. Newly crafted alloy wheels, functional roof rails and a reworked rear section with updated taillamps help the MPV look different from anything currently wearing a Nissan badge in India.
Cabin Experience and Features
Inside, Nissan is expected to offer a seven-seat layout designed around everyday usability. While the overall architecture may resemble what buyers are familiar with in this segment, the company is likely to offer a feature list that feels competitive for the price.
Among the expected features are an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch TFT digital instrument display, wireless smartphone connectivity on higher trims, and practical touches such as a cooled lower glove box, height-adjustable driver’s seat, and an armrest for added comfort. Convenience features like auto-folding ORVMs, cruise control and improved rear-seat lighting may also be part of the package.
Engine and Driving Experience
Powering the new MPV is likely to be a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine, an engine configuration known for its efficiency and affordability. It currently produces 72bhp and 96Nm in its existing applications, but Nissan may revise the tuning to deliver better acceleration or smoother performance.
Buyers should get a choice between a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox, offering flexibility for both city commuters and family-oriented drivers.
Pricing Expectations
One of the biggest questions is price, and early estimates suggest Nissan may position this MPV close to the current pricing of the Renault Triber. That would place it roughly in the ₹5.7 lakh to ₹8.6 lakh (ex-showroom) range, making it one of the most affordable 7-seater options available in the country.
If Nissan manages to offer strong features at a competitive price, this MPV could easily attract families looking for a spacious yet budget-conscious vehicle.
Final Thoughts
Nissan’s upcoming MPV appears to focus on practicality, smart design updates and value-driven engineering. With its December launch confirmed, this new model could offer Indian families a fresh alternative in the budget seven-seater segment. If the brand gets the pricing and features right, it may well become one of the most appealing family cars in its class.
